But here’s the truth – most people hire it out. A pro can knock it out in about two days, and you don’t have to worry about whether you got everything level or if the weatherstripping is seated right.

Can You Use Your Existing Deck?

Maybe! If it was built to code with proper footings (the kind that go four feet down so they don’t heave in winter), you’re probably good to go. You’ll just need to make sure it’s level.

If you’ve got deck blocks or something that wasn’t done quite right? Maybe fix that. It’s better to do it right the first time than deal with a crooked sunroom later. Some trailers are perched on top of deck blocks (no footings), and they have a sunroom sitting on a deck that is also sitting on deck blocks. The expectation is that the frost moves everything equally, but that’s at your risk.
