Polycarbonate Roof on Customer Provided Framework

Often we have found that customers come to us with glazing requirements, but they have an existing framework that doesn’t require the strength of our big Skyview structural beams. That’s why we’re introducing Skyview Low Profile.

  • Works with 16mm sheets.
  • Very flexible, easy to install.
  • Mounts on existing aluminum, steel, or wood frame work.

With the Skyview Low Profile system, it doesn’t matter if your rafters are 16” or 24” apart. And it doesn’t matter if there are slight inconsistencies in rafter spacing, all you need to do is trim the sheets to suit your openings. Alternatively, you can run horizontal strapping (purlins) and space the Skyview Low Profile glazing bars equally.

Thinking About a Glass Roof?

Our polycarbonate sheets are light weight, provide good insulation values and are so much easier to install than glass. Solarium glass is very heavy, and if you are using laminated glass it can be prone to cracking during installation or from subtle shifting of the foundation. Polycarbonate sheets are many times stronger than glass, acrylic or even modified acrylic.

Shading Coefficient is an indicator of how much solar radiation passes through the glazing and thus how much heat you can expect. The lower the number, the less heat build up you will have in your sunroom. U-value measures how well a product prevents heat from escaping. Window insulation values are represented by U-value. U-values generally fall between 0.20 for high performance insulated glass to 1.80 for single pane glass. The lower the U-value, the greater a window’s resistance to heat flow and the better its insulating value.
