The homeowners had an elevated deck serving as their main outdoor living space — a wide platform with full seating for lounging and entertaining. They wanted the perimeter secured without blocking the view to the yard and mature trees beyond. Black aluminum with glass panels was the right choice.

Craft-Bilt aluminum railing in Black was installed across the full deck perimeter. Tempered glass infill panels replace balusters entirely, keeping sightlines clear to the backyard while meeting Ontario Building Code requirements at the deck height. The black posts and top rail coordinate with the home’s dark window frames and exterior trim, making the railing look like part of the original design rather than an add-on.

The staircase runs from the deck down to the lower patio level, where a hot tub sits under the deck structure. Matching black aluminum stringers with glass-panel railing continue unbroken from the deck edge down the full stair run. There is no visual gap between the two levels — the same profile, same colour, same glass from top to bottom.
